The new dates of the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2022

It is official. This year the sixtieth edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano will take place in June, from 7 to 12. A change decided by the board of directors of Federlegno Arredo Eventi, together with Fiera Milano, in order to be able to give the event its right value.

“This decision – the President of the Salone, Maria Porro, says – will allow exhibitors, visitors, journalists and the whole international community of design and furniture to enjoy completely and safely all the potentialities of this event, which this year will be reach of novelties and, besides celebrating an important birthday, will be centred on the theme of sustainability – thus being the stage for all the progress made by creatives, designers and companies. The date of June - continues Porro- will also favour a strong presence of foreign exhibitors and operators, which has always been the strong point of the Salone, moreover, it will guarantee the participating companies the right times for projecting their own presence in the exhibition – which, as we know, requires months to be organized, from conception to final preparation. The desire for the Salone is becoming stronger – that’s why we are working on an event that will offer everyone the chance to live a unique, true and exciting experience ".

And the route to the sixtieth edition already begun, thanks to the pencil of the award-winning Italian illustrator Emiliano Ponzi, who is in charge of creating the image of the communication campaign of the Salone del Mobile. Milano 2022. Ponzi -who has signed six posters celebrating the anniversary of the event and showing its relationship with the city, the people and the evolution of costumes from 1961 to today - follows illustrious predecessors: Massimo Vignelli, Pierluigi Cerri, Guido Scarabottolo and Lorenzo Marini. Well-known for its essential and clear lines and for his almost metaphysical atmosphere, the artist will translate into a poster each decade of the Salone’s history – a narration in episodes that makes it clear how the Milanese event has always been more than an exhibiting event, embodying the values and the abilities that made Milan the undisputed capital of design in the world. The first poster shows an interior in Milan during the Sixties, the second the working-class city of the Seventies, the third the “Milan, enjoy it”, that of fashion and design of the Eighties, while for the Nineties the author was inspired by the Scala theatre and by its relationship with the Salone. If in the first decade of the new Millennium all is gathered around the new spaces in Rho, designed by Massimiliano Fuksas, the last poster reflects on the present day and look forward to the future, focusing on sustainability – today on of the priorities of the event.
