Its botanical name is Juglans Regia. The walnut is a majestic tree that can reach a height of 20-25 meters and has a very long life - it can easily live for more than a century. The tree is deciduous (it loses its leaves in autumn) and broad-leaved. The tree trunk is solid and straight, the diameter can be up to one meter. In the first years of life its colour is ash-grey, as time passes by it becomes darker and more wrinkled. A peculiarity of the walnut is that it is a solitary tree, no other plants grow around it. This happens because the trunk, leaves and roots have a substance that is toxic to all other plants.
