European Union Timber Regulation
In order to oppose the sale of illegally cut timber and resulting products within European Union the Timber Regulation (UE n. 995/2010, better known as EU Timber Regulation, or EUTR) was introduced. The Wood Regulation, applied in all member States since 3 March 2013, in force from 15 November 2016, fixes also some obligations for the operators, so for all subjects having headquarters in UE, who import wood or resulting products from non-EU countries. ITLAS works with a Timber Regulation system of due diligence (DDS) certified by an accredited external board (CSI). A system off due diligence (DDS) is mandatory for EUTR and allows to prove that the wood and its resulting products have a legal origin.
